The Swapo party has reclaimed the Karasburg East Constituency after its candidate James Hawanga scored the highest votes of 1,422.

The parties that contested in the Karasburg East Constituency were Landless People's Movement (LPM), Anseline Beukes, Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), Aldene Du Plessis, Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), Paulus Vries, and Independent Candidates (IC), Sophia Swartz and Matheus Veldskoen.

LPM garnered the second-highest votes of 1,140, followed by IPC with 2,091 votes.

Independent candidate Veldskoen managed to only obtain 70 votes, while Swartz scored 68 votes.
3,139 votes were cast.
Incoming councillor of Karasburg Constituency James Hawanga had this to say.

"It is still unreal. You know, a few days ago we were still running around campaigning. When this news came, that I am now the elected councillor.  I had mixed feelings actually.  A little bit overwhelmed, pressure, pressure in senses about what is lying ahead. But I am happy actually, happy because it is a new dawn, a new dawn for the party, and a new dawn for us in Karasburg East. Something we have been looking forward to. And today I can actually confess and say I am that Moses they have been waiting for."

Hawanga highlighted prioritising basic services such as water, sanitation and electricity.

"Immediately, when I have to kickstart my office, I have to see that the settlements, especially Wortel and Haib, should get water because those people are having beautiful backyard gardens, but there is no water. A place like Grunau needs proper sanitation. A place where I worked in, Ariamsvlei. There is no proper lighting, and I mean for a border town, which is the face of our country. That's something I have to start with, and the rest will follow."

In the Local Authority Election, the Swapo Party secured the highest votes of 687, followed by LPM.
Both secured 3 seats each in the Karasburg Town Council.

IPC also secured one seat in the seven-seat council with 165 votes.
PDM received the least votes of 81.
