The Children of the Liberation Struggle marched to the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, seeking feedback on the petition handed in in August of this year.

They want to be registered as dependents of both living and deceased veterans – a status that will allow them to benefit from the veterans' funds.

The Secretary General for the Association of Dependants of Veterans Namibia, Petrus Nendongo, said they have been waiting for three months now without any response.

"Let you not blame us for our actions because you are responsible for all the delays. As we are standing in front of your office today, we are not going away from here until you have given us a satisfactory formal answer in writing that we can refer to in the future.  We are here today to appeal for a ministerial registration only as a first step, and the other process can follow.  We request that the registration process take place in the 2025-2026 financial year."

On Monday, the group handed a petition to Deputy Minister Charles Mubita, and the ministry was due to provide feedback.

Nendongo stated the group was, however, informed later that the matter was still being discussed.

They were advised to return on Tuesday, which they did, but the group has now been informed that it will get feedback before Friday.
