The first National Namibian Nurses Seminar took place in Windhoek, focusing on sharing advanced nursing practices, enhancing patient care, and addressing challenges within the healthcare sector.
The seminar was attended by educators, healthcare professionals, and policymakers from all corners of the country.
At the event, Deputy Executive Director in the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Theo-Ben Kandetu, highlighted Vision April 2026, a presidential directive to transform the public health sector.
"A vision that has been the subject of public debate over the last couple of months. For us, in healthcare, this vision translates into nothing less than a promise of world-class health for all."
A registered nurse, Josefina Anjolose and founder of Queens for Health Clinic, emphasised the importance of nursing in the healthcare system nationwide.
"Nurses are the vital core of the healthcare system. We are first to see the patient, the last to leave their bedside, and the constant force that keeps the system running even in the darkest hours. Yet the reality remains, nurses carry these heavy responsibilities with too little recognition."
