A vehicle fell into one of the sinkholes at the Queenspark residential area in Rundu, Kavango East Region. 

According to Kavango East Crime Investigations Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu, the driver was reversing out of a yard when it fell into the sinkhole. 

The two female occupants in the vehicle did not sustain any serious injuries; however, they are receiving medical care at the Rundu Intermediate Hospital. 

There are numerous sinkholes in Rundu, usually caused by heavy rain. 

About two weeks ago, China Henan International Cooperation Group (CHICO) received the tender to close up sinkholes and to rehabilitate stormwater drainage systems in Rundu for N$108 million.
