The Kavango West Regional Council and Rundu Vocational Training Center signed a collaboration agreement at Nkurenkuru.
The duo have previously collaborated on the completion of phase one of the Nkurenkuru Sports Complex, and the Rundu VTC has recently been awarded a sports facility contract at Ncamagoro.
The parties have now signed a formal partnership.
"I am confident that much will be achieved through this MoU, and that its outcomes will be mutually beneficial to both institutions and, most importantly, to the communities we serve," said Rundu VTC Manager Kornelius Lukas.
The Kavango West Regional Council has identified six priority areas of collaboration.
These are vocational and technical services, project management, research, innovation and development, capacity building, maintenance and repair, construction services and industrial attainments.
Chairperson of the Kavango West Regional Council, Fillipus Tenga, explained that "As a region, we require the needed expertise to assist us in our objective to ensure infrastructure development in our region, and I have no doubt that partnering with RVTC will assist this Council in tackling issues such as renovation of classrooms, clinics, government offices, construction of certain facilities, etc."
The agreement also includes job attachments for students.
Tenga urged the implementation team to work on a clear implementation activity plan with clear timelines and resource allocation, which must be accompanied by a monitoring plan.
The Rundu Vocational Training Centre has committed to supporting staff members of the Kavango West Regional Council who do not have formal qualifications through the Recognition of Prior Learning Programme.
The centre has also developed short courses aimed at equipping trainees with specific skills and knowledge, which can be offered to the council staff members at a reasonable fee.
