The third round of the Polio vaccination campaign in Oshana Region is progressing successfully despite some community resistance.
Targeting children under 10, the campaign follows outbreaks detected earlier this year.
Oshana Region Polio Vaccination Campaign Supervisor, Ludwina Kornelius, reported, “We have achieved 70 percent coverage within the first three days. We are also vaccinating children who turned 10 years after the first and second rounds to boost their immunity.”
Kornelius noted challenges, “We still have some refusal from the community, including parents, some teachers, and business stakeholders who deny us access to use their premises as vaccination points. Those are few, but otherwise, the response is good.”
