Otjiwarongo-based sports club NDF Mighty Gunners held an awards ceremony to recognise the players and coaches who contributed to the club's achievements throughout the season. The event took place at the Jonas Shoongeleni Ndeimana Military Base in Otjiwarongo, Otjozondjupa Region, celebrating a successful run that included their Standard Bank Top 8 title victory in Windhoek last month.

A cash prize of N$8,000 was awarded to Mashiku Muyeka, who finished as the club's top goal scorer of the season. His accolade was accepted on his behalf by team captain Bernard Horaseb.

Horaseb expressed pride in leading the squad, noting that their shared commitment during training sessions and matches strengthened their bond. He praised the teamwork shown by the players and pledged that the team would continue working hard to represent the club with pride, respect, and sportsmanship.

Leonard Nambandi received the Coach of the Season award along with a N$7,000 prize. Nambandi reflected on the team's historic milestones, highlighting their third-place finish in the 2025/2026 Namibia Premier League, their Standard Bank Top 8 Cup triumph, and their fourth-place finish in the NFA Cup. He described the Standard Bank Top 8 Cup victory as a landmark moment in the history of the football club.

Other individual awards saw Fillipus Gariseb named Most Improved Player, while Olzen Ameb secured the Player of the Season accolade. Beverly Shetukana walked away with the Goalkeeper of the Season award.

Brigadier General Abraham Nghondela, the President of NDF Mighty Gunners Sports Club, commended the collective effort of the entire team, stating that their accomplishments are the result of tireless training, determination, and perseverance. He emphasized that while only a few took home individual trophies, every member of the squad is a winner.

The club, which continues to be a prominent competitive force, was originally established in 2003 by members of the Namibian Defence Force's 4th Artillery Brigade in Otjiwarongo.
