Namibia has officially unveiled the national team set to represent the country at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

At an official athlete farewell reception held earlier today, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah presented the national flag to the delegation, marking their formal departure for the international stage.

A total of 23 athletes are scheduled to compete across six sporting codes, including athletics, para-athletics, bowls, boxing, artistic gymnastics, and swimming. The team aims to build on Namibia's proud Commonwealth Games legacy and deliver competitive performances against top athletes from around the world.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah commended the competitors for their dedication and emphasized the significance of their roles as ambassadors for the country.

"The countless hours of training, sacrifice, and determination have earned you the honor to represent your motherland. Your commitment to sports excellence will not only ensure that our national flag is hoisted at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, but will also advance sports development in our country."

The Head of State also promised to closely follow the team's progress, rallying public support behind the contingent.

"As your number one cheerleader, I will be supporting and following your journey throughout the competition. The Namibian nation celebrates your achievement, and they stand behind you with great anticipation in the hope that you will continue to carry our national flag with pride, honor, and distinction."

With the official send-off complete, the 23-member squad enters the final phase of preparation before departing to represent the country on the global stage.
