Frederick Nghutenanye is the new Namibian National Junior Lightweight Champion after defeating Paulus Shonena by unanimous decision at Friday Night Fights, held at the Multi-Purpose Centre in Swakopmund during the "Local is Lekker" Bonanza. The scheduled National Bantamweight Championship bout was later changed to a non-title contest after one of the fighters failed to make weight.
Competing at the Multi-Purpose Centre in Swakopmund, Nghutenanye delivered a disciplined performance to win the vacant national title. The fight went according to our plan. Shonena is a tough opponent who did everything to survive my constant pressure, but in the end, I was the better boxer."
The evening's scheduled main event was originally billed as the National Bantamweight Championship. However, it was changed to a non-title contest after challenger Fabian Lameck failed to make the required weight. The official bantamweight limit was 53.52 kilograms. Joy "Pretty Boy" Nangolo weighed in at 52.95 kilograms, while Lameck weighed 54.85 kilograms, making him ineligible to contest the title.
The bout went ahead as a non-title fight, with both boxers exchanging punches before Nangolo took control in the later rounds. After ten rounds, Nangolo won by unanimous decision to maintain his unbeaten professional record of nine wins and one draw."Many people doubted me and expected a knockout loss, but I came prepared and delivered a masterclass performance to prove them wrong."

Earlier in the evening, Tangeni Salomon defeated Emmanuel Jason by technical knockout in their four-round lightweight contest. Johannes Trofimus also defeated Samuel Mwatumbange by technical knockout, while Jonas Jonas stopped Nicanor Halweendo by TKO in the opening bout.
The fight card was scheduled to feature nine bouts, but four contests were cancelled during the weigh-in because of weight discrepancies and medical concerns. The event concluded at the Multi-Purpose Centre in Swakopmund with the crowning of a new National Junior Lightweight Champion.
