Welwitchia University and the Namibia Revolutionary Transport and Manufacturing Union (NARETU) have signed an agreement that will facilitate enhanced practical training for law students. 

The agreement aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice, providing law students with hands-on exposure to real labour dispute cases handled by the union. 

Vice Chancellor of the Welwitchia University, Marius Hedimbi, said, "This goes beyond the classrooms, and it offers our students profound exposure to practical legal and labour-related realities that exceed mandatory academic competencies."

The university's Vice Chancellor, Marius Hedimbi, explained that through the agreement, students will be given an opportunity to observe and participate in dispute resolution processes to strengthen their understanding and application of labour law in real-life situations.

NARETU, Commander in Chief, Petersen Kambinda, underscored the importance of collaboration between labour unions and institutions of higher education.

"Almost every week we are facing like 30 to 40 cases at the office of the Labour Commission."

Both parties noted the importance of collaboration in preparing graduates for the job market.
