The Restoration Concert, hosted by Project Never Walk Alone in partnership with the Namibia Tourism Board, is set to take place on 31st October at the Hage Geingob Stadium.

To be held under the theme "Restoring Hope, One Shoe At A Time", the annual gospel concert will bring together Namibian artists from all walks of life to worship while raising funds to provide shoes for less fortunate children.

The Namibia Tourism Board Marketing Executive Officer Charmaine Matheus said the concert also highlights the role of music, sport and tourism in bringing people together.

"We promote our beautiful country based on its offerings, primarily our landscape and wildlife, but increasingly, we are seeing tourists who want to have experiences with people. Gone are the days when they simply wanted to take a picture of an elephant and spend time with wildlife; now, they truly want to connect with the local community. This is what the research shows us every day. And I think a concert like this speaks to that aspect as well. Music is a unifier, sports is a unifier, and tourism is a unifier. So it's the same objective."

The Namibia Tourism Board has pledged N$250,000 towards the concert.

Project Never Walk Alone spokesperson Nangula Mbako says the restoration concert is about restoring the dignity of the less fortunate children in Namibia.

"And the restoration concert is an extension of that. Just restoring the dignity of Namibians by God's word, by worship and praise. When we're worshipping, and we're praising God, it's really restoring and reminding Namibians of how far God has brought us and really the entire city."

Dr Mbako said the initiative is a collective effort that belongs to all Namibians and thanked partners for their continued support.
