Critical child healthcare in Namibia has received a major boost after the Windhoek Central Hospital Paediatric ICU received monitoring equipment worth N$500,000, donated by the Bank of Namibia and First National Bank Namibia.

The advanced monitors will improve the tracking of vital signs in critically ill children, enabling faster response times and better treatment outcomes.

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Director of the Ministry of Health, Johanness Gaeseb, the Director of Tertiary Healthcare, expressed gratitude for the support and emphasised the need for stronger public-private partnerships.

Specialist Dr Fenni Shidhika, a Paediatric and Congenital Cardiologist, noted the equipment comes at a crucial time as Namibia expands cardiovascular and specialised surgical services.

The Deputy Governor of the Bank of Namibia, Leonie Dunn, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting public health. Meanwhile, Bolle Hans, Head of Public Sector at FNB, emphasised the bank’s focus on improving child healthcare.

The donation highlights growing collaboration between the government and the private sector in strengthening critical healthcare services in Namibia.
