Body of Christ Party leader and MP Festus Thomas has questioned the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development over reported restrictions placed on churches, particularly revival churches, by some traditional leaders in northern Namibia.

Onesmus Shikongo Akwenye, a veteran of Namibia's liberation struggle, former educator, sportsman, and public servant, died aged 86 on Friday in a Windhoek hospital.

The Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare says there is a need for more GBV shelters in the country.

Namibia only has ten safe houses, two of which are privately owned.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on regional councillors and traditional leaders to urgently register flood victims whose mahangu fields are submerged in water.

The call follows the president's visit to flood relocation centres in the Ohangwena region.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says the government will continue to look into the plight of those affected by the floods until they can stand on their feet.
