NCS STRENGTHENS LEADERSHIP TO CLOSE SKILLS GAP

Namibia Correctional Services Commissioner General Raphael Hamunyela has emphasised that the institution is hard at work to bridge the skills gap between new intakes in key positions and top officials.

The aim is to equip officials with skills to improve administration and rehabilitation programmes.

NCS to recruit 200 youths for 2025 intake

The Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) is set to recruit 200 young individuals between the ages of 19 and 35 to undergo a nine-month training for the 2025 intake.

NCS Commissioner General, Raphael Hamunyela, announced this in a press statement released on Monday.

3,129 offenders have been sentenced to community service since the full implementation of the Community Service Order (CSO) programme in 2010.

Out of this figure, 2,781 offenders successfully completed their sentencing conditions by December 31, 2023, while 286 breached the conditions.
