Some Katutura residents in Windhoek, under the Katutura Residents Committee, petitioned the City of Windhoek, calling on the municipality to write off debts of pensioners under the 43 build-together groups, as well as the contract renewal of debt collector RedForce.

Residents of Katutura feel misled by the City of Windhoek and its campaign to write off the municipal bills of elderly residents.

The promised debt cancellation includes conditions of payment that residents say remain unaffordable for the elderly. 

Residents of Katutura marched to the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development (MURD) to seek answers over a non-response by the City of Windhoek to attend to their water and electricity petition handed in six months ago.
