During the visit, Omuthiya Mayor Beata Nashongo took the opportunity to raise several urgent concerns affecting the town.

Annelize Knaus elected as Keetmanshoop mayor

The Keetmanshoop Town Council elected Councillor Annelize Knaus of the Landless People's Movement (LPM) as the new mayor during today's annual mayoral election. 

Councillor Easter Isaak nominated Knaus for the mayor position, and former Mayor McDonald Hanse seconded the nomination. 

CoW postpones election of office bearers amid councillor disruptions

The City of Windhoek's election of office bearers had to be postponed to today after some councillors defied the instructions of the presiding officer.

The disruption happened a few minutes after the mayor and the deputy mayor handed over their mayoral regalia on Monday.
