President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has commended Africa's largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines, for empowering women in the aviation sector.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, joins the rest of the world in the commemoration of International Women’s Day celebrated on the 8th of March.

The Police in the Otjozondjupa Region on Thursday marked the 16th anniversary of the Women’s Network, celebrating the achievements and increasing leadership roles of female officers within the force.

Residents of Gobabis gathered to commemorate International Women's Day, a day set aside to recognise the achievements and contributions of women in society. 

The event highlighted the important role women continue to play in leadership, development and community building across Namibia.

The government has pledged to empower women in the aviation sector, as they remain under-represented in this industry. 

President Dr, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah made the commitment at the Women in Aviation Namibia Day in Windhoek today.

Namibia's first female fishing trawler skipper, Nelago Kwedhi, is encouraging women to pursue careers in the maritime industry.

Recognising that the sector remains male-dominated, she said success is possible through hard work and resilience. 

The International Training College has partnered with the Miss Namibia Organization and the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation to empower pageant contestants beyond the stage through education and development.

A group of women in Luderitz are not only making beads for a living but are also sharing valuable lessons in life to be resilient in all circumstances.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has paid tribute to women, saying that as Namibia marks Women’s Day, “we must begin by recognising the historic role that Namibian women played in the liberation struggle.”

The newly crowned Miss Kaite 2025, Zandre Josephs, is calling for more awareness campaigns to reduce stigma and empower individuals to prioritise their mental well-being.
