The Ministry of Works and Transport launched the User-Per-Principle (UPP) on the Walvis Bay-Ndola-Lubumbashi Development Corridor at the Wenela Border in Katima Mulilo.

Two hundred and fifteen graduates from the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences and the Faculty of Agriculture, Engineering and Natural Sciences graced the stage at the University of Namibia’s Katima Mulilo campus. 

The Office of the Zambezi Governor handed over 2900 sanitary pads to the education directorate through the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare.

The donation follows an initiative launched by Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare to break barriers for albinism and menstrual health.

Lima Farm in the Kongola Constituency of the Zambezi Region, in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), has embarked on chilli production aimed at promoting sustainable integrated agriculture and mitigating human-wildlife conflict. 

The Minister of Education, Sanet Steenkamp, has visited the Zambezi Region to assess the impact of flooding on the education sector.

Dr. Steenkamp visited the affected Nankutwe Combined and Namiyundu Primary Schools, as well as the relocation centres at Lusese and Schumansburg Combined School.

At least over 300 residents in the nearby Luhonono villages that are flooded have relocated to an open space opposite Schumansburg Combined School, where tent-like structures have been built from tree branches and black plastic bags. 

The flood situation in the Zambezi Region appears to be under control, based on the latest updates from authorities on the ground.

Seasonal floods have severely affected Nankuntwe Combined School, making it only accessible by boat. The school faces possible closure after parents refused to allow its relocation, citing past experiences of property loss.

As heavy rains persist in the Zambezi region, residents of Sibbinda Constituency have found themselves flooded in their homesteads.

Residents say food and household appliances are damaged by the water, while the daily operation of schools and local businesses in the area is also affected.
