Botswana has launched a 500MW solar photovoltaic plant alongside a 500MWh battery energy storage system in the Ngamiland District. This project aims to reduce dependence on electricity imports and position Botswana as a net electricity exporter by 2030.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has called for the rapid conclusion of financing negotiations for the Angolan portion of the Angola/Namibia Power Interconnector.
