Known as the stubborn dreamer, Miss Namibia, Johanna Swartbooi, hails from the dusty streets of Vaalgras, situated 100 kilometres east of Keetmanshoop. 

The Ministry of Health and Social Services has denied allegations of negligence related to the death of a two-month-old baby from Gainachas village in the ||Kharas Region.

The Namibian Police have confirmed that no internal investigation or inquiry was conducted against two officers accused of involvement in the 2023 death of 31-year-old Elliste Plaaitjie in Keetmanshoop.

Keetmanshoop residents referred for specialist treatment to Windhoek Hospital have expressed frustration over prolonged transport delays. 

In a social media post that went viral on Monday, the residents decried the prolonged wait for transport, saying they have had enough with delays.

The bail application of Charmaine Cloete, one of the three accused facing two counts of contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime and illicit trafficking of goods under the Diamond Act, has been postponed for continuation on 1 July.

A resident of Keetmanshoop has increased her civil claim against the town's magistrate, Unchen Konjore, from N$200,000 to N$500,000.

The case, filed by Lucia Hamana at the Windhoek High Court, stems from a 2023 maintenance hearing presided over by Konjore involving Hamana and her husband.

The Landless People's Movement (LPM) leader, Bernadus Swartbooi, has urged young people to become the drivers of change in society. 

Swartbooi made the call at the celebration of the party's youth command element at Youth Day at Keetmanshoop.
