SADC observers of the Tanzania General Elections have reported that voters in many areas of the country were unable to freely express their will during the recently concluded general election. 

Tanzania's electoral commission on Saturday afternoon handed over an election certificate to Samia Suluhu Hassan, a ceremony that cements her Presidency amid protests that have crippled the country.

The Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, attended the meeting of the Ministerial Committee on the Political, Defence, and Security Cooperation of SADC in Tanzania from the 21st to the 25th of July.

Namibia's High Commissioner to Tanzania, Lebbius Tobias, says the diplomatic mission is working towards the establishment of a library at Kongwa in memory of the late Founding President Sam Nujoma.

The Ministers of Defence of SADC and EAC have been directed to meet within 30 days to deliberate on the establishment of a secretariat-level technical coordination mechanism.

This mechanism is expected to monitor the implementation of the joint summit decisions.

Leaders of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) gathered in Harare on Friday to discuss the worsening security crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The SADC Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM) for Namibia's 2024 Presidential and National Assembly Elections was launched in Windhoek today.

Tanzanians marked the 60th anniversary of the Union in a colourful ceremony in Dar es Salaam.

Union Day is commemorated annually on the 26th of April, signifying the merger of mainland Tanganyika and Zanzibar Island.
