Ndakondjelua Shaumbwa, a long-serving nurse, midwife, and veteran of the liberation struggle, has died at the age of 85. Her death on the 16th of September was confirmed by her nephew, Jackson Wahengo.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah described the late former Chief of the Namibian Defence Force, Retired Lieutenant General Solomon Hawala, as a hero of the liberation struggle, whose legacy will never die.

The memorial service of veteran of the liberation struggle, Commander and national hero Lieutenant General (RTD) Solomon Hawala, is underway at Ohakweenyanga village in the Oshana Region. 

The Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs is actively conducting outreach programmes across the Oshikoto Region to engage war veterans and others involved in the national liberation struggle. 

Zimbabwe's second vice president, Kembo Mohadi, said the shared liberation struggle for the region is paramount to shaping resilience among Africans.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has congratulated the Anglican Diocese of Namibia on its 100th anniversary, commending the church on its growth and impact over the last century.
 

In honour of the heroes of the liberation struggle, Namibia reflects not only on the victories on the battlefield but also on the freedoms and rights being enjoyed today.

This is at the backdrop of this year's Heroes Day that will be commemorated in the Zambezi Region.

The "Great Lion" and former Robben Island political prisoner, Lazarus !Guiteb died yesterday, aged 82. 

A descendant of the Hai ||Om people, !Guiteb earned himself the nickname "Great Lion" because of his dedication to Namibia's liberation struggle.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called for the continued strengthening of bilateral ties between Namibia and India, as she received that country's High Commissioner, Rahul Shrivastava, at State House for a courtesy visit.
