Heavy rains in the Kavango East and West have left some residents picking up the pieces over the weekend.
Lambert Haingura, a resident of Hamweyi Village in the Kavango West Region, is one of those affected, as the weekend's rain was accompanied by lightning, which struck and killed seven of his cattle.

Heavy rains over the weekend have damaged Simwege Primary School in Katjinakatji Village, Kavango West. The makeshift school in Mankumpi Constituency serves 58 grade one and two learners. Classrooms and learning materials were destroyed, and the village lost electricity.
Road fatalities in Kavango West have so far decreased from 14 deaths in 2023 to nine this year.
There has also been a drop in serious injuries, with 27 recorded last year to 25 during the same period.
The spokesperson of the polling officials who were threatening to boycott elections in the Kavango West Region if the ECN did not increase their training rate was informed by the Regional Electoral Officer, Elizabeth Visagie, that the commission would no longer be needing his services.
