South Africa is expected to host the 9th Summit of the Southern African Customs Union this week in Cape Town.

The summit will bring together the heads of state and governments and representatives of the five SACU member states on Friday.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has pushed for Namibia and Tanzania to move from political freedom to economic liberation by strengthening industrialisation, value addition and intra-African trade.

President Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah said despite recent improvements, more needs to be done to reduce youth unemployment in the country.

She said this in remarks delivered on her behalf at the opening of the 3rd General Assembly of the National Youth Council of Namibia at Swakopmund.
