President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah used the occasion to call for unity, accountability, and stronger local service delivery.

Frustrated residents of Walvis Bay have petitioned the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, to dissolve the current municipal council over alleged poor service delivery and mismanagement.

However, the minister said the timing is not right to take such action.

A 28-year-old security guard was fatally stabbed in the early hours of Tuesday in Kuisebmund, Walvis Bay. 

The deceased was identified as Setson Inamutwika Nghinamwaami, who was employed by Windhoek Security Services cc.

Walvis Bay Rural councillor, Tegako Donatus, was granted bail of N$50,000 by the Swakopmund Magistrate's Court, following his arrest on charges of fraud and money laundering.

According to a police report, the Independent Patriots of Change (IPC) councillor was taken into custody on Monday.
