The Swapo Party Regional Coordinator for ||Kharas Region has called on party members and supporters to intensify voter mobilisation efforts to regain lost constituencies and local authority seats in the November elections.
Mathew Mumbala made the call at the media conference in Keetmanshoop, where he announced the party's candidates who were elected during the party's internal elections, which concluded over the past weekend.
The regional coordinator stressed the importance of reclaiming electoral support in the elections to restore the party's dominance at the local and regional governance level.
"The party is now fully prepared to register all its candidates with the Electoral Commission of Namibia, reaffirming its readiness to contest and serve the people of the ||Kharas Region with dedication and integrity. The Swapo Party remains steadfast in its mission to "uplift the community, promote development, and ensure that the voices of Namibians are heard and respected."
The party candidates for the regional council election are Ulrich Davids for Keetmanshoop Urban Constituency, Gerrit Witbooi for Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency, Suzan Ndjaleka for ǃNamiǂNûs Constituency, Katrina Cloete for Karasburg West Constituency, James Hawanga for Karasburg East Constituency, Ivan Jossop for Berseba, and Nestor Sheimi for Oranjemund Constituency.
Mumbala said the candidates represented a blend of experience and are ready to address and rectify the setbacks experienced in the region over the past five years.
The party will also field candidates for the Keetmanshoop Town Council, Luderitz Town Council, Oranjemund Town Council, Karasburg Town Council, Aroab Village Council, Tses Village Council, Bethanie Village Council, Berseba Village and Koes Village Council.
