The Elenga Enene of the Uukwambi Traditional Authority has urged Ohangwena Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa to work in unison with traditional authorities to bring development to locals.

Four-year-old Ruusa Sheya and her two-year-old brother, Prince Sheya, have been laid to rest at Omandobe No. 1 Cemetery in the Ohangwena Region.

Many mourners gathered to pay their final respects to the siblings, who tragically lost their lives after their father allegedly killed them. 

Thomas Sheya (33), who allegedly killed two of his children by twisting their necks on Sunday night at Onkani village in the Omuntele constituency of the Oshikoto Region, was denied bail by Magistrate Nelao ya France during his first court appearance.

The mother of a 36-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend in Epanya village, Okatana Constituency, revealed years of abuse from her son. 

She narrated how, in June, she asked him to leave her house due to verbal abuse.

A 33-year-old man is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court tomorrow for allegedly killing his two children on Sunday night in the Omuntele constituency of the Oshikoto region.

The Swapo Party’s Okongo District Office honoured the First Gentleman, Epaphras Ndaitwah, by renaming the office after him.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is urging traditional leaders to follow their customary laws when appointing leaders to avoid disputes.

Such disputes had led to 16 traditional authorities without leaders.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced that the new 120-bed maternity facility at the Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital is almost complete.

The facility will feature first-stage and second-stage rooms, a spacious reception area, a procedure room and a gynaecology theatre.
