The Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Emma Kantema, says the ministry is making major contributions to advancing gender equality, empowering women, and safeguarding children's welfare through a series of national programmes.

Mothers gathered to unmask postnatal depression during the launch of the book ‘Unmasking Postnatal Depression’ by Morna Ikosa.

After experiencing postnatal depression with the birth of her children, Ikosa narrated her story with inputs from experts.

Members of Parliament in the National Assembly have raised concerns that women’s empowerment initiatives are excluding rural women and neglecting the needs of boys in empowerment campaigns.

The Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Emma Kantema, says despite Namibia implementing several strategic initiatives to safeguard children's rights and welfare and various collaborative programs, the reality of many African children and those in the country remains challenging.

Over 300 women gathered in Windhoek for the Namibia Women in Finance and Insurance Summit, which focused on empowering women through financial inclusion in today's digital landscape.

The Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Emma Kantema, said her ministry will continue to train Early Childhood Development (ECD) daycarers to raise awareness of violence against children in their classrooms.

Over 400 students graduated from the University of Namibia's Rundu Campus on Thursday. The graduates received qualifications in various fields, marking the end of their academic journey and the start of new paths in their careers.

There is a need to boost and back up micro, small, and medium enterprises in the country to create jobs and empower young people. 

The Deputy Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Service said this during a public discussion on Bridging the Gap in Government Funding Solutions for Startups. 

The United States Agency for International Development donated training materials to the Ministry of Sports, Youth, and National Service's Windhoek Multi-purpose Youth Resources Centre.
