Almost three months after a directive from the Minister of Urban and Rural Development to sort out their chieftaincy dispute, the Dâure Daman Traditional Authority is still far from resolving the matter.

Retired teacher wins Dâure Daman chieftainship

Retired teacher Isaskar Taurob won the controversial Dâure Daman Traditional Authority chieftainship election at Uis in the Erongo Region.

Taurob garnered 403 votes, while Efraim Goseb and Dawid Areseb received 6 and 1 votes, respectively.

Minister Sankwasa moves to end years-long Gciriku chieftainship dispute

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, has stepped in to help resolve the Gciriku traditional leadership succession dispute.

The Gciriku tribe has been without a chief since 2019. 

The chieftainship of the tribe is inherited through the maternal line.

Chief Seibeb’s nomination deemed incomplete

In a meeting between the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, the Daure Daman Traditional Authority, and a concerned group, it was resolved that the nomination of Chief Sagarias Seibeb was procedurally incomplete.
