Mourners at the memorial service of the late Gaob of the |Hai|om San Traditional Authority, Dawid ||Khamuxab, have described him as a true servant of the people who led his clan without fail.
 

The Ovambanderu community and other members of the public converged on Okahandja last weekend to mark the 130th anniversary of the execution of erstwhile Ovambanderu leader Kahimemua Nguvauva.

Nguvauva was executed by firing squad on June 12, 1896, in Okahandja.

Speaking at the same event, Urban and Rural Development Minister James Sankwasa says most traditional leadership wrangles are fueled by educated people. 

Sankwasa emphasised that the government is resolute in changing the narrative.

The final results within the |Khomas Region show that members of the |Khomanin community voted in favour of removing Chief Juliane Gawa!nas through a vote of no confidence, with 889 votes supporting the motion and 87 opposing it.

The Chairperson of the Nama Festival, Dirk ǂEigub, has described the Nama anthem as a powerful symbol of unity and cultural pride among the Nama people. 

The anthem was launched during the Nama festival's official opening on Friday.

The Ministry of Urban and Rural Development says at this stage it cannot confirm the validity of the elections held by the |Khomanin community to remove their Gaos Juliane Gawa-!Nas and her council from the office.

A vote of no confidence was instituted against Gaos Gawa-!Nas and her council on 16 May. 

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, has announced Aruvita Kayoka as the Hompa of the Gciriku Traditional Authority. 

Sankwasa made the announcement at the Gciriku Traditional Authority's headquarters at Ndiyona in Kavango East.

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, has met with the various family members in dispute over chieftainship within the Gciriku Traditional Authority.

Sankwasa said only a few other stakeholders need to be consulted before putting the matter to rest.

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, paid a courtesy visit to the Batswana ba Namibia Traditional Authority.

The life and legacy of Chief Clemens Kapuuo were honoured in Okakarara over the weekend. Members of the Ovaherero community, along with traditional leaders and political figures, gathered to commemorate one of Namibia's most revered leaders.
