President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah described the late former Chief of the Namibian Defence Force, Retired Lieutenant General Solomon Hawala, as a hero of the liberation struggle, whose legacy will never die.
The memorial service of veteran of the liberation struggle, Commander and national hero Lieutenant General (RTD) Solomon Hawala, is underway at Ohakweenyanga village in the Oshana Region.
Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba has paid tribute to the late liberation icon and former Namibian Defence Force chief, Solomon Hawala, who died recently aged 89.
Pohamba said Hawala's contribution to the nation's liberation will never be forgotten.
Defence and Veterans Affairs Minister Frans Kapofi, Presidential Advisor Christine ||Hoebes, and Oshana Governor Hofni Iipinge were amongst the high-ranking officials who visited the family of the late Solomon Hawala this morning at his homestead in Ohakweenyanga village near Ondangwa in the Oshana Region.
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah paid tribute to the late former Chief of the Namibian Defence Force, Solomon Hawala, saying his legacy will forever be etched in the annals of Namibia’s history, serving as a constant reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom.
Hawala died on Monday, aged 89.

A statement by the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs says Jesus, as he was affectionately known, died at home at Ohakweenyanga in the Oshana Region.
