Residents of Oshihenge Village in the Oshana Region are in a state of shock, following a son's alleged murder of his mother over food.

According to the latest crime report, a 34-year-old suspect returned home intoxicated from a cuca shop on Friday night and demanded food.

Upon realising that there was no food available, he reportedly forced his way into his 66-year-old mother's room and assaulted her with a panga, resulting in multiple severe injuries.

Following this horrific attack, which resulted in the woman's death, the suspect reportedly forced a 10-year-old member of the household into his room, where he raped her. The minor is an Angolan national. 

The suspect has since been apprehended and is in police custody.

In a separate, unrelated incident on Friday in Omungwelume, in the Ohangwena Region, a 39-year-old Namibian male was reportedly shot in the right shoulder with a rifle, sustaining serious injuries.

It is alleged that the suspect, a 62-year-old man, went to the victim's residence in search of his wife.

The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody.
