Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare reminded the investors that health is a human right and not a luxury commodity.
Dr Ngurare, who was speaking at the inauguration of a private health facility, Kaisosi Medical Services, urged staff to structure their services in a manner that caters to everyone in Rundu.
"I urge you to work with the Ministry of Health and Social Services to handle referrals and engage in community outreach and preventative healthcare, and I am happy that you have committed to do so. Ensure that when a desperate mother knocks on your door, she is met with compassion first and administration second."
Reading a speech on behalf of the Health Minister, Kavango East Health Director Ida Mendai says the centre will assist in reducing the maternal mortality ratio.
"The Kaisosi Medical Centre must play a decisive role here by offering antenatal care and ultrasound imaging to detect complications early. You are not just running a medical centre; you are saving lives. I urge you to ensure that your protocols for maternal care are vigorous; we need you to help us close the gap between where we are and where the SDGs say we must be."
Managing Partner of Kaisosi Medical Services, Johnny Doeseb, says they are committed to providing free screenings starting with the military personnel.
He also talks about plans to open a manufacturing plant.
"We are going to establish a manufacturing plant in due course, within Windhoek, where we are going to manufacture medicine, because we are aware of all the medical challenges that we are faced with, and nobody is immune to that. We are going to meet the government halfway by investing into a manufacturing plant."
The medical facility, owned by two Pakistani brothers, a local doctor, Dr Richard Dinyando, and Namibian businessman Johnny Doeseb, provides daily access to doctors and specialists.
There are also nursing and pharmaceutical services, sonar, and laboratory and x-ray services.
Founding Partner, Dr Dinyando, talks about phase two of the project.
"You will be so amazed to learn that you will access MRI services; you will have beds for many patients, including a maternity ward, and a complete and fully functional dialysis centre. We also have an optician, a dentist, and a dermatologist, and many more as the demand grows."
The investors put together over N$20 million to get the facility up and running.
