The family and friends of former employee of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), Ananias Elago, who died on Sunday, remember him as a humble man whose life and words touched many people.

Elago died at the age of 74 after battling cancer. 

He worked at the ECN for more than two decades, where he served in various capacities.

Born at Ekango Village in Oshikoto, Elago was also a veteran of the liberation struggle.

His son Smart described him as a man who was able to connect with people from all walks of life and inspire them in both their personal and professional journeys. 

He says his father's influence extended beyond his biological children, as he helped raise others.

He says his father taught him the importance of humility and patience.

Elago is survived by three children and four grandchildren. 

The memorial will be held in Windhoek on the 23rd of July at 15h00 at Inner City Lutheran Church in Windhoek West and on the 31st of July at his homestead in Iikango village.

Elago will be buried on 1 August at 07:00 at Oshitutuma cemetery in the Oshikoto Region.
