The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has issued a precautionary alert following forecasts of above-normal rainfall across the country, with the potential for flash floods.

The Oshana Region has recorded a slight decline in criminal activities in 2025 compared to 2024. 

Speaking recently at a public engagement, the Oshana Police Commander, Commissioner Naftal Sakaria, says he is happy with the rate at which the region is fighting crime. 

Residents of Epupa in the Kunene Region are calling on incoming councillors to prioritise development in the area.

They cited poverty and poor infrastructure as major challenges facing them.

The Kunene Region has dispatched sensitive election materials to the three constituencies of Kamanjab, Outjo, and Khorixas in Kunene South.

The packages, which include ballot papers and other essential supplies, are part of the region's preparations for the upcoming general election.

The Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, said the government will continue upgrading the nation’s road network, both in urban centres and remote rural areas.

Nekundi emphasised that good roads are lifelines that connect communities to health care, education, and other essential services.

The Minister of International Relations and Trade (MIRT) has reiterated that businesses remain central to the country's economic emancipation and job creation; hence, her ministry is ready to support local businesses to reach their full potential. 

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has warned contractors working on road infrastructure projects in the Kunene Region not to inflate tender costs after they have already been agreed upon.

Given prospects of good rainfall, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has said discussions are on to ensure that schools in floodplain areas do not close during the rainy season.

Schools such as Onghala, Ohaingu, Oudjobala and Shingunguma would need urgent intervention to avoid their temporary closures.
