Vice President Lucia Witbooi has called on Namibia's faith communities to play a central role in national renewal as well as the Council of Churches in Namibia (CCN) to strengthen Christian unity, prophetic witness and institutional renewal.

Christians across Namibia marked Easter Sunday by commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, viewing it as the cornerstone of their faith and a source of renewed hope.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia (ELCRN) proceeded with the election of a Bishop this afternoon, and polls are expected to close at nine o'clock this evening.

The election is taking place simultaneously across all registered ELCRN parishes throughout the country.

The election for the next bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia got off to a smooth start this morning at the Ebenhaeser Parish in Keetmanshoop.

Of the 30 registered voters, only 22 cast their votes.
