President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says Namibian farmers can learn valuable lessons from the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market.

The Namibia National Farmers Union Board Chairperson Vetuundja Kazapua has called upon private sectors in Omaheke to contribute meaningfully towards agricultural-related activities in the region.

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Inge Zaamwani, has applauded the Otjombinde farming communities for breeding quality livestock despite various challenges faced by the sector, such as climatic pattern changes, bush encroachment and the unstable market, amongst others.

The Namibian Agronomic Board hosted the National Agronomy and Horticulture Awards (NAHA) in recognition and celebration of the roles local farmers and stakeholders play in contributing to food security, agricultural growth, and broader sustainability.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform has allocated over N$12 million towards the Horticulture Support and Value Chain Programme for the 2025/26 financial period. 

Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) Leader McHenry Venaani, in the National Assembly, has questioned what had happened with the N$20 million dairy farm initiative that was to be carried out at Uvungu Vungu and which has not been spoken about for the past 16 years.

Grain farmers in the Zambezi Region have welcomed the Agribank Agronomy Loan Scheme.

Maize farmers are hopeful the new agronomy loan schemes will change the current challenges they face.

The Sikondo Green Scheme in the Kavango West Region is experimenting with a new potato variety called Valor. It's the first time the scheme is trying out a different potato, and the acting farm manager said they can't wait until the spuds reach maturity. 

The Dâures Green Hydrogen Village in the Erongo Region is constructing an ammonium sulphate plant, which will produce fertiliser for the local and international markets.

The Dâures Green Hydrogen Village is located about 90 kilometres from Uis.

The president of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), McHenry Venaani, said farmers who want to buy land through Agribank are finding it difficult to access land, taking them up to six months.

He explained that this is because people selling land are only willing to do so through commercial banks.
